The State Department confirmed Tuesday that the United States will release an initial $30 million grant to the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), a private aid consortium backed by American and Israeli partners now distributing food in the enclave. The money—authorized under a “priority directive” and routed through the winding-down U.S. Agency for International Development—marks Washington’s first direct financial contribution to the month-old operation. A senior administration official said the transfer was approved “to keep food flowing at scale while traditional channels remain impaired.” An internal document reviewed by multiple news outlets shows an immediate $7 million disbursement with the balance scheduled over the next several weeks. Additional monthly tranches of up to $30 million remain under consideration.
